In celebration of International Youth Day 2023, an inspiring initiative is taking center stage. The "Eco-Art Installations for Sustainable Communities" camp, organized by SIT in collaboration with DYVO and supported by UN Peacebuilding, UNDP Kosovo, Koalicioni K10, is all about engaging and empowering young individuals to champion environmental awareness, peacebuilding, and sustainability.
A Unique Blend of Creativity and Consciousness

This two-day camp goes beyond the ordinary. It encourages participants to explore the vital connections between green skills, peacebuilding, and climate action. Through a series of engaging workshops and activities, young people from diverse communities, including Albanian, Serbian, Bosnian, Ashkali, and Egyptian, are joining forces to promote a circular economy and a green environment.

From Trash to Art: Eco-Art Installation Creation

One of the standout features of this camp is the creation of large-scale eco-art installations. Armed with knowledge gained from sustainable fashion workshops, the youth are unleashing their creativity. They're crafting impactful art pieces using recycled materials collected during community clean-ups. These installations are set to be powerful symbols of environmental consciousness.

Art Meets Nature: Public Exhibition at Badovc Lake

The beauty of these eco-art installations is that they won't be confined to the campsite. They'll grace the shores of Badovc Lake, taking their message of sustainability to a broader audience. With International Youth Day falling on a Saturday this year, the lakeside exhibition is expected to resonate with many, inspiring sustainable living and prompting a reevaluation of consumption habits.

Building Bridges for Peace: Empowering Peaceful Communities

Beyond art, the camp hosts interactive team-building exercises centered around peacebuilding. Participants come together to foster unity, cooperation, and understanding among individuals from diverse backgrounds. Through these engaging activities and group challenges, the camp encourages open dialogue, empathy, and effective communication, laying the foundation for a more harmonious and inclusive community.

A Celebratory Affair: Youth Day Celebration

To mark International Youth Day, a celebratory event awaits. Featuring music curated by a DJ, the celebration revolves around themes of peace, sustainability, the circular economy, and a green environment. It promises a positive and energetic atmosphere that resonates with participants and attendees alike.

Youth Leading the Way to a Green and Inclusive Future

This initiative is proof that young people have the power to drive positive change. It's an opportunity for them to showcase their dedication to peace, environmental consciousness, and skill cultivation. The picturesque Vermicë/Vërmica lake serves as a fitting backdrop for these enthusiastic young minds as they ponder the importance of green skills, the impact of peacebuilding on climate action, and who can truly bring about a positive change.

We are empowered to see the Youth Lead us toward a future that's not only green but also inclusive. Special thanks to UN Peacebuilding, UNDP Kosovo, Koalicioni K10 for their support, and the SIT Center and DYVO for hosting such an interactive and impactful camp.

Join the celebration with Youth Day Camp and be part of the movement towards a more sustainable and peaceful world, led by our incredible youth.
