UNFPA in Kosovo contributed to ensure the availability and accessibility of quality reproductive health services, through  different interventions, including capacity building of health professionals on Sexual and Reproductive Health, including family planning. Use of modern methods of contraception influences both maternal mortality and abortion rates and is also known to improve infant and child survival through birth spacing by at least two–year intervals.

During November 2014, UNFPA through its implementing partner AHED has successfully trained 45 family medicine doctors and 33 nurses on family planning and logistics management information system (LMIS). Participants demonstrated great motivation for learning.  Pre and post testing of the gained knowledge has shown increased level of knowledge from 53% in pretest to 82% in posttest.  Participants were also supplied updated training materials on family planning.
