From September 5th to 7th, the Association of Family Physicians of Kosovo (AFPK) hosted the 8th International Conference of Family Medicine, centered around the theme "Integrated Healthcare Services in Family Medicine in Kosovo." UNFPA proudly supported this conference as part of its unwavering dedication to fortifying AFPK's role as a strategic partner in enhancing the accessibility and quality of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in Kosovo.
Together with our esteemed partners, we are delighted to announce that SRH services are now fully integrated into Kosovo's primary healthcare system. This monumental achievement is a testament to the collective efforts and commitment to providing comprehensive SRH care.
In her opening address, Dr. Visare Mujku-Nimani, the Head of UNFPA, underscored the pivotal importance of delivering #SRH services within the framework of primary healthcare. This primary point of contact with patients plays a vital role in shaping the overall health of the population, particularly among the most vulnerable groups.
In collaboration with the Ombudsperson Institution of Kosovo, UNFPA orchestrated a conference panel dedicated to "The Rights to Sexual and Reproductive Health: Access to Contraceptive Information and Services, Abortion and Post-Abortion Care, and Maternal Health Care." This crucial discussion shed light on the fundamental rights related to SRH and the imperative access to essential services. Moreover, a presentation was held, focusing on "The Provision of Family Planning Services in Primary Healthcare Facilities in Pristina, Ferizaj, Fushe Kosovo, and Gjilan," underlining the progress made in expanding family planning services across these key regions.
UNFPA is proud to stand beside AFPK and all our partners in advancing comprehensive healthcare services that embrace the principles of integrated family medicine. Together, we continue to work towards a healthier, more accessible, and inclusive healthcare landscape in Kosovo.
