At the 'United against Violence - Enough' regional conference organized by the Kosovo Ministry of Justice and Office of the President during the 16 Days of Activism, Visare Mujko Nimani, UNFPA Kosovo Head of Office, delivered a compelling presentation addressing the critical issue of digital violence.
Nimani shared valuable insights into UNFPA’s extensive Bodyright campaign, emphasizing the importance of fostering a comprehensive dialogue to confront the challenges faced by women and girls.
According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, the prevalence of online violence against women is alarming:
85% of women with internet access reported witnessing online violence against other women.
38% personally experienced such violence.
Approximately 65% of surveyed women encountered cyber harassment, hate speech, and defamation.
57% experienced video and image-based abuse, with harmful content simultaneously distributed across multiple platforms.
Shockingly, 96% of deepfake videos on the internet are pornographic, and all of them feature women.
This event served as a crucial platform for fostering awareness and discussions around creating a safer and more inclusive online environment
