In order to better inform the general population about family planning and discuss its importance, UNFPA Kosovo Assistant Representative Visare Mujko Nimani was invited at TV show “Familja ime” (My family), program at national KLAN TV station. The discussion panel on this TV show consisted of UNFPA representative and it’s implementing partner Red Cross of Kosovo, who are working directly with communities in promoting family planning by providing key facts and information on its benefits.

Ms. Mujko-Nimani stated that UNFPA in Kosovo together with a wide range of partners works toward the goal of universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, including family planning. UNFPA through its activities is promoting family planning by ensuring that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. Ms. Mujko-Nimani emphasized that family planning helps people have the desired number of children, which as a result improves the health of mothers and contributes to the nation’s social and economic development. She also mentioned that a woman’s ability to space and limit her pregnancies has a direct impact on her health and well-being as well as on the outcome of each pregnancy.  Therefore it is very important that everyone is informed in the right way about benefits of family planning. UNFPA in Kosovo will continue to work on family planning activities, including capacity building for health professional, peer to peer education for youth and information campaigns.
