The 6th edition of the Fathers’ Festival this time brought together families in Mitrovica city for an unforgettable celebration of fatherhood, connection, and joy. Organized by SIT with support from UNFPA Kosovo, the festival once again created a space where fathers and children could enjoy quality time and build lasting memories—together.

For six consecutive years, the Fathers’ Festival has grown into a unique platform promoting active and engaged fatherhood in Kosovo. This year’s edition overflowed with warmth, energy, and emotion as families participated in a wide range of games, creative activities, and moments of shared joy.
The love between parents and children was felt in every smile, every hand held, and every shared laugh. In many moments, it was the children—eyes sparkling with excitement—who encouraged their fathers to join the fun, saying, “Come on, daddy! Let’s do it together!” And many did—cheering, competing, and even winning the challenges side by side with their kids.

Activities like “Dad vs. Mom,” a fun trivia game about their children, sparked laughter and friendly rivalry. The “Arts & Crafts” corner became a space for creativity and bonding, while the “Ice Cream Decorating” station brought sweet smiles as fathers designed treats for their children. The “Quiz with Prizes” filled the atmosphere with cheers and enthusiasm, led by the youngest participants.
Meanwhile, the “Chill Zone” offered families a peaceful space with soft music, warm cuddles, and quiet conversations. A highlight of the festival was the popular “Fathers’ Race”—a light-hearted competition where dads took on tasks that seemed simple, but were full of surprises.
More than a day of activities, the Fathers’ Festival served as a powerful reminder of the importance of time, presence, and love in parent-child relationships. It celebrated families choosing connection, care, and emotional closeness in their everyday lives.
This event was part of the project “Expanding Choices: Gender-Responsive Family Policies for the Private Sector in the Western Balkans,” funded by the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by SIT – Center for Counseling, Social Services and Research. These programmes aim to support families by promoting caregiving roles for fathers and creating environments where every child can thrive.
To every father and child who took part: thank you. You were the heart of this celebration, and your presence made it truly special.
