UNFPA has donated delivery beds and essential obstetric care equipment to the Maternity Ward University Clinical Center of Kosovo. This equipment will improve the basic conditions and environment   of women to deliver their babies in the biggest maternity ward in Kosovo. The donation is made possible through the joint project “Partnership to improve   Women and Children’s Health in Kosovo“ implemented by UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO in   partnership with the Ministry of Health funded by Luxembourg Government.

“It is our hope that the delivery beds and basic equipment donated today will   provide to women of Kosovo   minimum conditions that they deserve to have during the delivery of their babies and enable the caregivers to provide to them better quality of care,” said UNFPA Assistant Representative Visare Mujko Nimani.

She added that UNFPA looks forward to  continue to work  in partnership with  Kosovo institutions  in years to come  to  promote and  ensure that  every woman, man and child  have the right to have equal opportunities in life.

During the handover ceremony, speeches were also given by the Director of Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic Dr. Myrvete Pacarada, Director of Clinical Hospital Health Services Dr. Curr Gjocaj who cordially thanked UNFPA and the Luxembourg Ambassador and his government for continues support to the health system in Kosovo.

The Ambassador of Luxembourg   Mr. Pierre Weber expressed his satisfaction of the cooperation among UN agencies and health professionals and his happiness for the improvement of health conditions and   services for mothers and children in Kosovo.
